Pardon me if I posted anything that is against the forum rules, as I thought this is not exactly, breaching any security stuff and all.... :p

So, Does anyone know how to open or unlock the Advanced Menu in the Phoenix Menu....My notebook's BIOS does't show up with the advanced menu, and I need to enable SATA, in order to make my HDD run in native mode....!! The manufacturer is not ready to help in anyway..
Have tried all available BIOS upgrades for this notebook....

Any help will be appreciated.... :)

This is shown in the notebook's service manual....I guess repair men know how to open the advanced menu by heart, so the method to do so is not mentioned in the manual..:p

I already have a Pheonix BIOS Editor, I am not sure if it is the pricey one....
Tried to play around with the settings, in the setup template, it does show the Advanced Menu, but I guess there is some sort of activation for it or it is disabled in the BIOS CODE, which I can't understand....
I have heard that there are some special codes to open some sort of hidden menus, but the few I know didn't do anything....

I am not so bothered about killing the motherboard, since I have a spare motherboard and I can swap its BIOS chip into it, if anything goes wrong....

. have u tried to look at ur comp's direct support site for a possibility of a bios update?
. phoenix web site has some faq that might help also. Or browse their manual
    www.phoenix.com/NR/rdonlyres/5AF5C50D-9E06-4298-9E58-E52BFFCC8D7D/0/userman.pdf
. a mail to the brand support, explaining the reason as why u need to get to certain bios options, would often get u the answer u need

    cheers ...

His intentions are quite clear, he just wants to be able to change the SATA native mode settings.

Acer probably removed this setting on their newer models. (eg. HP had the native mode option on the dv2000 models but removed it on the dv2500).

Thanks for the links, I think I will be contacting Phoenix now, since Acer isn't ready to help....I don't know but it seems as if Acer is unaware that the Acer 3680 (my notebook), has a SATA motherboard as well, I mean all other new Acer models, i.e. the Acer 5315 has an option to toggle between AHCI and IDE....
I am still trying to play around with the BIOS Editor, but just can't get the hang of the codes.. :D Tried enabling SATA in the Advanced Menu (as default), but it didn't work.
Anyone have any idea if older laptops (2007 and before), have PLCC or DIP BIOS chips..?? As a last resort, I might just get a custom BIOS.. (have that advanced menu open)
