    Photo app/use mouse wheel for zoom in/zoom out? *WINDOWS 10*

    Hey,

    Not sure what Microsoft is doing these days but they seem to keep messing with the native photo apps that come with Windows 10 I was using "photos" app and use to be able to use my wheel on my bluetooth mouse to zoom in and out when viewing photos now I'm not able to do so without holding down the control key first, instead it just flips to the next pic! WTF?

    I've tried using the other native app "photo gallery" and while that zooms with the wheel, it has a white background and I don't like it.

    Any suggestions? God damn they are always messing with something!

    The Classic Windows Photo Viewer zooms in/out just fine with the mouse wheel for me.

    How to properly setup Windows Photo Viewer as the default image viewer


    Normally, even if you set the Windows Photo Viewer as the default app to handle your images, all image file types will still open in the ugly Windows Photos Metro Apps. The reason is the Windows Photo Viewer isn't registered to handle image files.

    So we need to add the file types via a reg tweak, then only would the Windows Photo Viewer appear when right clicking on an image file in order for you to set it as the default app for that image manually.

    You will need to do this for every image file type such as: PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG,etc. I normally do it for each image once and be done with it. Setting it as the default app in Control Panel > Default Apps will not work.

    1) Download the Photo Viewer Restore Reg Entry then double click on it to merge it with your registry

    2) Now go to PC Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Photo Viewer, change it to Paint, then back to Windows Photo Viewer for it to properly register all the photo extensions with the Windows Photo Viewer

    Yes I know all of this, apparently nobody is reading my thread. I don't like the other program because it has a white background, it's distracting. I'm well aware of the other native photo app. Again, I'm talking about the "PHOTOS" app that is part of Windows 10.

    It appears that the only way to zoom with mouse wheel in default Photos app in Windows 10 is while simultaneously holding a Ctrl button.

    Yup, people are very helpful here, but they don't like reading anymore, that has changed over the past two years. That might be me included, as I thought you meant some other "other native app" in the OP. ;)

    Easy solution...just set the Windows 10 Photo App to zoom instead of scroll to next image:

    1. Open the Windows Icon (lower left) and scroll through the list of apps
    2. Open the PHOTO app
    3. Select the “three dot” icon in upper right corner …
    4. Select SETTINGS from the pulldown menu
    5. Look under Viewing and Editing Section, the Mouse Wheel Subsection
    6. Select “ Zoom In and Out” instead of “View Next or Previous Item”
