I'm not able to get Photoshop C4 (or even CS3) to install in XP x64. Has anyone else faced this? Is there any work-arounds/tweaks i need to do in order for it to install?
    Thanx in adance.
    Cheers.

hmm... it seems a typical problem with the adobe software is that in a lot of cases it does not install when you have had a previous version and/or a beta installed.

there are some entries left in the registry, as well as some files that are left in these directories :
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

when you do have some leftovers of older installations of adobe software still on your computer it helps to uninstall all adobe software, restart, delete the files in the adobe folders in the directories above.

additionally you will need to run the adobe clean script :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html

do a restart and try the installation of photoshop again.

if you are experiencing the problems on a rather fresh windows install you should consider browsing the adobe forums to see if there is some software missing on a fresh install that is essential for the adobe setup.

OUCH!!! Sorry dude, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but - those pesky Photoshop System Requirements don't quite favor your particular system setup:

Photoshop CS4 System requirements - Windows

Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or
Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with
Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista)

CS3 was never certified for 64 bit systems; and CS4 is only certified for Vista 64 systems. That's the reason I've got a Vista 64 system with 8gb's of DDR2 -
I run all of the Adobe Master Collection programs, including the 64 bit versions of Photoshop and Lightroom. Big difference.

However, it IS rated for the 32 bit version of XP, so all you really need to do is install the 32 bit version. I've got the CS3 Master Collection still on my XP Desktop, runs great.

Sorry, but i have to disagree on that one. am running xp 64 all the way on my 8510p, since december 2007.

i used adobe cs3 for more than 1 1/2 years and now i updated to adobe cs4, and it is of course working. don´t be fooled by this certification blabla.

xp64 as well as vista x64 does have a nearly perfect 32 bit emulation onboard and no such thing as an additional install of a 32 bit host system is need to run the adobe software.

    @ arjunned

the install should work, it´s just the typical problems with adobe software that xp32 and the vista users do face also. no need to worry that you have the wrong os installed.
