I've been playing BF2142 and C&C3 a lot lately and I have been noticing some problems.
I have a 7900GT graphics card, 2 gigs of 533 ram, and Pentium D 820 dual core.
I have Vista Ultimate with Areo.
I've bene noticing when playing games, lines begin to appear, like i don't know how to describe it, but they are almost like really stretched triangular tube like lines. They are sporadic and don't always last during game play. I have also noticed that it looks like some pixels have burned out. But when I move the screen around they go away, not burned out but they have differing colors. These also appear randomly and not just in games, but also when web browsing. It's completely random but does happen frequently, not right now it's not, but I imagine soon it will be.
I usually run my games at max settings. Also my games lately have been freezing up hardcore, in particular C&C3. I've had these games for a while, and they weren't freezing up until within the last two weeks or so. Many times I have gotten a message saying "Fatal Error", or the whole thing just locks up. Then I have to restart. Also my audo card seems to conflict a lot with C&C3. It often gargles the sound, and then craps out, and uses "snowy" noise to replace all noises. As this occurs game play begins to slow down to halt and then freeze or lock up. Like I said this is all real recent. However, if I exit the game early enough the audio card will resume to normal.
I dunno. Any suggestions or diagnosis?

Hello Apocalypse.
I'm terribly sorry to say that you have a faulty graphics card.
the problem you're experiencing usually happens either when the motherboard/graphics card package isn't compatible(clocks are badly configured, very rare) or when the graphics card memory is corrupted(broken)
this problem happens more often with graphics card that are overclocked from factory, the ones that say: OC or superclock on the box.
the best thing to do is to send the graphics card back to be replaced.
some times, if in right at the start of the problem if you manage to upgrade the graphics card bios it might be able to handle things without the corruptions, but in most cases replacing is the only option
Good luck..
by the way, I've seen this problem happening very often on BFGs and e-VGAs graphics cards. -
I have a PNY and it has served me very well for the last year or so. It's within the last two weeks I have noticed a few problems.
The games ran fine until like two weeks ago. -
Those things are called artifacts. It happens when theres a problem with your graphics card. From the sounds of it it recently started going bad or overheating. You may want to try to find out if its overheating. To do that you can try downloading and installing Riva Tuner.
