    Hi guys

I've converted a couple of MP3 files which are about 3-4 minutes in length but when I allocate them to the windows startup option in the sounds and audio devices part of control panel only about a minute or so plays and then it abruptly stops.

Is there anyway to get XP (or Vista) to play an entire .wav file rather than just a part of it on startup?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice :)

I'm not sure about this, but you could probably put in the startup list the "sound recorder" program with a command line parameter telling it to play that specific file.

I know that this is not what you had in mind, but it might work.

You can probably put the mp3 file directly in the startup folder, and it'll probably use your default program for that file type to play it.

As an alternative, you should be able to do something similar with Task Scheduler, creating a task that runs on startup or login. (Although you may need to give Task Scheduler a playback program with the file as an argument... I'm not really sure.) But the startup folder is a little easier to mess with.

Alright....I think this may sound crazy....but you could play whatever song inplace of the XP startup tune....
Just convert that file to .wav and place it in the | Windows -- Media | folder....and then select it in place of the XP startup tune from the control panel....!!
If you want it the other way....that winamp or realplayer loads and automatically plays that file....then best to go with swarmer's advice.. :)

Yuh uh thanks for that. That's what I did, and it only plays a part of it - think I said that already.

Thanks so far guys, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to run a separate app at startup to achieve this. :(
