I am having a lot of problems with Vista lately. The past two weeks or so, I have noticed that my CD/DVD drive has stopped working. In device manager, it says that the device is working properly, and there are no updates for the drivers. However, in My Computer, the drive does not show up at all.

It does look like the BIOS recognizes it however.

I know a little bit about computers, I am actually in school right now for IT, but we do nothing with Vista.

Try uninstalling it in the device manager then go to Actions > Scan for hardware changes.

That should reload the drive. If it still doesnt show up then go to Disk Management and see if it shows up there. Try changing the drive letter if it does.
