Can you elaborate about what exactly is happening when you try to boot?

Important information that would help diagnose the problem would be:

-When you press the power button, do the lights flash in the manner they did before this problem?
-Does the screen remain black (turned off) or display any text?
-When you tried to reformat the hard drive, what exactly did it do? While the restore was running, did it install a new copy of Windows successfully or was there an error which stopped the process?

Try turning it on right now, and make a note of everything you see (lights & text on the screen) then post that here. That will help determine if it is a hardware problem or a software problem.

You might have a BIOS problem. Is your computer making any unusual beeping sounds while it boots up?

Also, the problem might be simply a loose component on the motherboard, such as a loose RAM module. If at all possible, tighten any screws on the laptop chassis, and if that does not help, it might be useful to open up the chassis, and make sure that everything is firmly attached onto the motherboard.

And also, could you clarify what happens when you try to use the restore cd...

I'd be interested to see what the Seagate HDD diagnostic utility shows for the hard drive.

Since the lights come on, screen displays normally and the computer begun the installation process via the CDROM drive, I'd be inclined to say it isn't a motherboard or RAM issue. In my experience RAM issues will prevent the above mentioned from responding normally. However, it is possible and I suppose can't be ruled out.

Adindas, do you know how to open up your laptop and check the components? We can help you through that.

Me as well. From the information we have, it sounds like the hard drive could be the issue.

Adindas, I suggest you download the Ultimate Boot CD and burn it to a bootable disc. You can download it here:

    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

It has lots of hard drive diagnostic tools listed under the "Hard Disk Diagnostic Tools" section. You run the disc by inserting it as you did with the restore CD, allowing the computer to boot from it.

As I mentioned above, checking the hard drive seems like the best course of action right now, since the restore CD could not complete. Can you elaborate on what process stopped at 65%? Was it reformatting the hard drive which stopped?
