    Hi folks,

I manipulated some things in my registry regarding start-up. Unfortunately, I messed it up to the point of being unable to proceed to the desktop mode upon boot-up. I am now stuck in user-accounts. Luckily, I was able to back-up the most recent registry. Now, how do I make use of this registry back-up upon boot-up to be able to solve my problem? Thank you in advance.

You know if you make about 15 more posts you can take up the entire first page with your single problem

Boot up in safe mode and then go to regedit, and import your .reg file?

-I can't even go to safe mode. I am stuck in user accounts page 'cos the safe mode asks for an administrator password which I don't know since we really didn't save or indicate an administrator password. Even all the user accounts have no password since everyone in the house is just part of my family...

Do we really need a third freakin' thread about this topic? You system is hosed. You screwed it up by editing the registry without having ANY sort of back up. Stop whining and begging for help and just reinstall the OS already.

Who's talking about a registry backup? I am talking about a SYSTEM backup. Let's see, I am about to make a bunch of changes to the registry regarding startup of my machine. So do I make a registry backup, knowing that in order to use said backup I must be able to restart the machine? Or do I make sure I have an image, insuring I CAN restart it? You tell me.

Sounds like a classic case of "Ready! Fire! Aim!".

Like I said before just bite the bullet and reinstall the OS you already said you recovered the data. Lesson learned.
