Hey guys I just bought a toshiba a300-07G from staples.

The problem is that I bought the model that was on display at the store so the OS thats on it has all the staples product demo crap. At the store they told me I just had to restore the windows OS but when I tried that it said that it could not find restore files. I looked in the recovery partition of the HDD but it is empty.

The computer did not come with any restore disks so I don't know what to do to get it back to a clean install.

Take it back to Staples; if you've got no Vista disk and nothing in the Recovery Partition, my guess is you're SOL

If you got a good deal on it then keep it. Call up Toshiba and they should send you the disks. If you have a buddy that has a Vista disk barrow it or burn it and do a custom install, that is what I would do anyway. If you can get a 64 bit version then do that instead. Your 32 bit key will work with the 64 bit Vista. Anyhow good luck.

As was previously mentioned, take it back. No OS on the comp will do you no good. Staples is one of the few retailers that does not charge a restocking fee. You could talk to the store manager, tell him or her that you like the laptop and the deal but there is no software on the hidden partition.

Maybe if he or she is nice they'll give you a free copy of Vista. :)

Get yourself a retail Cd\DVD of Vista Home Premium out of the deal.
