Hi all,
I'm trying to write a lab report. The assignment stipulates that it is to be written in 12 pt. double spaced Times New Roman. I have the formatting set to that; however, sometimes when I insert a picture or chart, Word does a triple space as seen in the picture I attached after the word "electrode", and again after the word "peroxidase". If I try to delete the space between those words and the words in front of them, Word just brings down the previous word to the following line, keeping the triple spacing. I have the picture wrapping set to "tight" but have tried other layout options to no avail. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to make it let me decide how to format the lines?
Thanks,
Dan![]()

Copy the image, paste it in about 6 lines down, delete the old image, and align the image to the right.

Thanks for the advice; I tried it and it didn't work as planned, probably because I have a bunch of images crammed onto a page. Could anyone tell me why it's doing this in the first place?

Try this:
Select one of the lines before the triple-space > (On the Home tab) Line Spacing > Remove Space After Paragraph
That might work. With Word, it's just a guessing game a lot of the time. Formatting is a pain in the neck. -
Let it be added to the NBR knowledge database that to eliminate this problem,
For pictures: Right click picture -> text wrapping -> more layout options, Text Wrapping tab, set all available "distance from text" fields to "0". Also, change alignment to "square".
For text boxes: Right click text box -> format text box, Text Box tab, uncheck the box next to "Resize Autoshape to fit text". Also, change alignment to "square".
How obscure is that? To think that users may not want to to dig through menus to maintain global formatting in a document... gasp. -
CYTOCHROME C!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brings back a lot of Undergraduate memories......lol
