    Poll: Which Vista Theme do you usually use?

    I usually use Vista Basic, because some of my programs are incompatible with Aero, and Basic is close enough in looks that I can't be bothered to switch it back all the time. And I like it a bit more than Classic - neither XP nor Vista got Classic quite as good as it looked in 95/98.

    Poll should read "do you usually use", but hopefully they're rather the same. I "prefer" Vista Basic because it's not worth it for me to switch to Aero.

    If you run windows update, theres an update that allows Areo to work with those odd programs.

    I understand what you mean, because you'll open that program and the entire system swop's over to the basic. Then when you close it it swop's over to the Areo.

    It happen when some of my 'java' based applications. Ran windows update and it's fine now. It's just a small RTM bug I assume. It'll all be ironed out hopefully when SP1 hits the market.

    You shouldn't be running Basic for compatibility. You have the option of using Basic if your computer doesn't have the necessary hardware to run it.

    Which programs are causing incompatibility? As the previous user posted, Windows Update should take care of any problems.

    I was always using Aero. In the beginning, some programs caused it to go into Basic mode. But once I did all the updates, I've never had any issues.

    Update your system and go Aero!

    Same here.It happens to me when I'm use DivX web player.MS compatibility update wont help much :mad:

    I used to get a problem with DivX web player causing Aero to revert to basic but since the last time I ran Windows Update, I no longer experience the problem.

    I use aero all of the time. I use it because my computer can handle it and all of my program are compatible. Along with the fact that i just love the way it looks.

    With Aero off(Basic mode), my videos are a bit grainy. It's like watching Google Videos or something, so Aero it is.

    the ONLY reason I upgraded to Vista was because of Aero. For me, all the other themes look even worse than the standard one on XP.

    i have a friend @ school that only uses the standard theme, he says it gets him better gameplay...

    and i use aero but with a osx leopard visual style

    aero with the sidebar. doesnt affect gaming at all :p 2gb ftw!
