Hello all,
I won a Windows Vista Ultimate on a contest a while ago. I have tested it on a computer (I unplugged the Internet connection every time I tried it, just to make sure), but this computer's video card is too slow for Vista (that I expected).
My question is, if I do register Vista on one computer, can I then use the same Vista on another computer? (i.e. same DVD, same activation key, etc)
Do I have to do anything special? (i.e. somehow "deactivate" the previous Vista, or contact Micro$oft?)
Any of you ever did this yourself? If yes, what was your experience?
Best regards!

No. You can only use it on one computer

If it's a retail version, you can switch to another computer. But you can't have it installed on another computer at the same time.
And you gotta contact MS. I think. It might be possible without contacting them though. -
Clarification: Its a retail version. It came in its own box, not with any computer.
So which is it? Can I use it in another computer or not? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
You can use it on another computer. But I'm pretty sure you will need to hassle Microsoft to get it activated.

Yes you can. You can change computer 5 or 10 times (can't remember which).

Usually you can do it an endless number of times, as long as the rep you get over the phone isn't a total booboo head. Since it's the retail you should have no problem installing it on another PC as long as it isn't on the previous PC and online anymore.
If you have to call someone, simply tell them your computer died or you had to reformat, or that you are switching computers and no longer ever using the other one. You could even try the complete truth, and it would still probably work, those are just the issues I've used before(actual issues) that have worked for me since Windows 2000.
Don't see why Vista would be that much different
