    Hey all,

I got a call from a friend who is coming home in a week about an issue they are encountering with their computer. She does need to use it a bit for finals and I have nothing in my bag of tricks for this one, seeing she is in another state atm. The laptop boots up without error issues. She can log in and get to the explorer, etc. THe issue she is having are these purple vertical bars with no color distortion in between the bars. I have seen the vertical bars, but usually the whole screen has color distortion. This seems merely like an overlay. Anyone have an idea that I could tell her to try? I am thinking a graphics driver issue, but then again the inverter or graphics card itself? That non discoloration area is throwing me off. Thanks for your help.

Now that is a great question...haha, in the whole flurry of *strong* words and silence, I forgot to ask what computer she has. I could barely interject a hello before the cursing began. I will ask he and see, I bet by booting into safe mode and disabling the nvid card would allow for the integrated to take over and at least work for her.

Connect an external display to the laptop. If the problem persists, then it is a gpu issue. If not, it is likely that the lcd is failing

    cheers ...
