Hi.
My friend has an old Dell laptop. Something happened to it and now he tried formatting it and reinstall windows vista. He says that during the installation and when it is installing updates. He says that the computer bluescreens and these are the error codes he gets:
error code 0x8001045D
cannot install required files
0f00:0232 disc_0 block 3924864:timeout waiting for IRQ
Is it a possible dead hard drive?

Has he tried doing a full format on the HD B4 installation? OR running HD diagnostics from the HD manu. web site? When U say old is it more than 5 years?
I read in another site that it could be the speed at which the install DVD was burned (2x is the best speed to use when creating the DVD).
Hope this helps, Josea -
Its more like 3 years old. His original dell HD failed within a year and he was out of warranty. This was a retail bought HD about 1.5-2 years ago. He should still have warranty on it since its a WD scorpio blue. I think hes using the default DVD that came with the laptop to install vista. The recovery one.
Possible hardware failure? Windows vista format & installation.
