Possible to Recover Deleted Encrypted Documents

I asked a thread not long ago about how to delete files on my computer. Basically these files i encrypted it with axcrypt and i was told if its encrypted and you delete it and then delete it off recycle bin, the files are pretty much deleted. And if someone were to have access to the computer and were to have access to the files, well its fine because its encrypted with a password. The thing is right now is it possible for me to recover those deleted documents?


The reason i ask this is because im having issues logging into my email where i store those documents. I encrypted them in the email but i cannot log into my email.


I have the password encryption and everything for it. I deleted these files while encrypted with axcrypt and then deleted it off recycle bin. Thus if i cover recover it, i would then open it with my axcrypt password and then have access to it. I assume its possible but its going to be a very tough process? I should have just left those documents in my computer but just decided to delete if. I can the same can be said about any pictures that i deleted etc.

I use windows 10 if that means anything.

 

so long as the data was on a HDD and recent you stand a good chance of recovery. There are several solutions to recover files deleted on a HDD, use google. Again you will recover them with encryption in place but that seems fine. Do this ASAP though as even a lot of data writes or even a defrag will start rewriting the data blocks on the drive.

 

Hi there. My laptop is an SSD. So that is the same or not?

I do not defrag my laptop as i was told ssd you are not suppose to defrag.

 

You cannot recover any data from an SSD and unless it was just recently deleted.
Reason being, when you delete a file from an SSD, the SSD controller makes those cells as NOT WRITEABLE and uses other cells that are fresh and ready to be written on. After a while, the SSD Controller performs a TRIM command (AKA Garbage collection) where it scans all those NOT WRITEABLE cells and changes their status to writeable so they are ready for action. That may happen *any time* when the SSD is idle.

Once those cells are cleaned / marked as writeable, there is no way you could recover the files back.

Okay so just to make it simple. It was an HDD, possibly. But SSD, impossible then right?

 

This depends on the software that is being used to recover the deleted information regardless HDD or SSD as long as it wasn't written to or formatted then they can check to see what can be recovered.
