RUN > msconfig > boot tab > no gui boot checked on

This enables some sort an an aurora image for Vista rather than the sliding bar that shows window is loading.

Would anyone happen to know where this image is hidden?! And is it possible to replace it with my own?

You can use Stardock's BootSkin I believe, to change the bootscreen.

But be warned, on my XP install this program caused many problems. It's better to leave the bootscreen to the default ones.

No logon studio is different. Logon is the screen right when you enter the password. BootSkin is the one where the green bar drags across the screen for vista.

Its an great app, you just need to keep it installed though (not running)

Use the HP dragon wallpaper, looks awesome as a logon screen.

I don't think you can if you're on SP1. I tried using Vista Boot Logo Generator and all it did was increase my boot time with a blank screen for a few seconds.

    NOOOO!!

DONT EVER USE Bootskin on Vista.... it ll ruin ur OS..

i have made a thread ... i had to take out HDD & bypass the OS and delete .sys file which doesnt let Vista boot.

Dont ever install Bootskin on Vista.

If u wanna change that Aurora image...there are other programs vista compatible.

It's probably in one of the dlls under c:\Windows or one of the system subfolders under that, like c:\Windows\System32 or somesuch.

The actual bootpage background images (the flying multicoloured Win symbol on a blackbackground) are in there (for XP on my system, at least) as c:\Windows\winnt.bmp and c:\Windows\winnt256.bmp
