I want to install XP as a dual boot on my M1530 which already has Vista Home Premium 32bit. I own Windows 98SE full retail and Windows XP upgrade retail.
Since the XP upgrade version (although it is an upgrade version, I will be doing a clean install, not installing 98SE first and upgrading to XP, or is that required?) is a bit outdated (version 2002), I would like to slipstream SP3 (or SP2).
Is it possible to slipstream the upgrade version of XP for a clean install?
If so, how and could you recommend any good guides for doing it?
Is it the same procedure as slipstreaming the full version of XP? (copy CD contents to HD, patch some files, burn to new CD, I think... it's been a while since I did it for a friend a few years back)

You can use nlite.I have never tried it,but seems like it;s easy to use.

if i recall correctly,, you have to have a WIN98 CD to insert as some point durring the XP install,, that's to verify you are eligable for the upgrade...
but i'm pretty sure you don't have to actually install 98 to use the UPGRADE version to install... just have that 98 disk handy

Edit::
as far as slipstreaming the UPGRADE,, i don't see why it would be any different... if it were me, i'd probably NLITE SP2 into the install,,, then do an update to SP3 so you can roll back just incase you have one of the issues that have popped up w/ reguards to SP3 -

bigozone is right. you don't have to actually install 98 and then xp, you can just install xp directly. at some point its going to ask you to pop in the 98 cd to verify that you have it.

. Back in the day I had an upgrade copy of 2000 PRO. It allowed me to just remove the upgrade CD, insert the 98SE CD, then reinsert the upgrade CD. That way it read that you have it before installing, without 98 needing to be installed. I assume XP allows you to do a similar thing. If it does allow this, it will prompt you to do so.
Slipstreaming SP3 is very easy. Use Nlite as the above poster said.

You can download SP3 here (from Microsoft). You will need this to do the slipstream:

I haven't heard of anyone using an upgrade copy for slipstreaming, so I don't know if you will run into problems. Give it a shot! However, it will be wise to anticipate problems and be prepared for them.
EDIT: I just remembered about this: Microsoft offers an ISO for you to burn to CD. If you find that you can't slipstream, just use this CD immediately after installing XP.
