I have some program that on my W8.1 samsung laptop that I wish to use on my Dell XPS 15 (comes with W8.1 Pro). For unknown reason the program I cannot install on the Dell laptop.

So is it possible to use the recovery image of the W8.1 on the dell laptop and then "upgraded" to W8.1 Pro?

I doubt that would work. Can you contact the make of the software and figure out the installation problem? That will likely be easier.

Hi, no, the software is only officially supported up to Win XP! but somehow I can install it on W8.1.

Basically the software comes in 3 CDs (and none of my laptops have DVD drive) so I cloned the CDs into 3 ISOs and tried installing it using the ISOs.

Do you have Win 8.1 Pro? If so, you should be able to install Hyper-V and run XP in a VM to use the software (or alternatively, use something like VMWare).

Ok, this might be a problem XP installation will not and most likely not install properly and work properly on Win8 - alot of software written for XP won't even install on Win7 so getting it to work on Win8 unless it has upgrade to Win8 it will not work correctly. I think they talking about VM running the software but if it requires some core XP running system that might not work correctly. This is based on my experience with Win7 and trying to install Nero 6 which it balked at.
