Why does Power DVD try to access the internet when I try to run a DVD every time? What is the purpose of that? Should I allow it?

Some programs try to access the movie database to get the title of the movie while others just check to see wheather there's a newer version available.

A feature of PowerDVD6 is On-Screen Display (OSD)
Shows useful information about the current video being played.

That could be why it is trying to access the net to get info for it.

If it runs without any problems why give it access?

Power DVD also offers paid upgrades to its audio playback and is probably trying to connect to its website for displaying details.
