With the focus here being notebooks, for those who might not be getting the most out of their battery, or are just curious, I found Windows Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report to be an interesting tool with a good deal of insight into the power efficiency of my Windows installation/hardware. To generate this report, open a Command Prompt as an administrator, type powercfg -energy into the window and hit the Enter key. This command will produce a report, which will be saved as an HTML file for you to review.
I hope this helps, or enlightens, some.
Cheers.
