I'm having an 'inconvenience' with my laptop that has a 1st generation core duo. The speed stepping is handy when my laptop is not plugged in, it saves battery. But it also speed steps down even when plugged. This results in a somewhat sluggish behavior during the transition of the CPU speed.... I'd have to change the scheme to office/desk so as not to reduce the speed when idle and have the processing do its tasks at full speed.

Is there a native way to not to have to inter-change this? I want it to speed step when not plugged and NEVER speed step when plugged.

Or do I need a third party application to accomplish this?

    TIA

You could install Notebook Hardware Control, and have that perform the switch.
