Hello all! I'm using Win 7 Premium and am having trouble with my battery bar settings. By default on my pc, the power saver option has my screen brightness set to the lowest possible setting whether it be running on battery or plugged in to a socket. The problem with this for me is that the lowest brightness setting is just too dim for me and every time I change the setting to a higher brightness and save it, it never saves. Is there something eerily obvious that is fooling me or it a software defect of some kind? Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you changing the brightness via the Fn keys or in the power plan?
You need to change the setting in the power plan - it will also allow you to have a different brightness for plugged in vs. battery.

I'm changing it in the power plan and saving it, but every time I turn my computer on I have to readjust it all over again.

And you are saving the setting I guess to?

    That's strange...

Sometimes with HP's the power plans are managed globally by an HP Utility, so if you don't change from within HP's util, the settings made elseware get erased upon restarting or from a cold boot.

There is also an Alienware software device where you control settings as well but even making the adjustment there doesn't seem to help.
