Hi,
I thought it was my one laptop but it seems to be a problem with at least two of my Laptops. One is an Asus U81a and the other is a Gateway P-7805u. The problem is battery usage noticed with Battery Bar and in real life.
If you first remove AC and go to ballanced you will see in battery bar your power draw. With the U81 I see about 10.5 W/Hour draw and with the P-7805 30.0 W/Hour draw. This coincides with real world battery life before depleting. Vista always seemed better than that.
Now if while on battery you go to power saver the U81 goes to 7.8 W/Hour draw and the P7805 goes to 21 W/Hour draw. Now switch back to ballanced and the u81 goes to 8.5 W/Hour draw and the p7805 goes to 25.5 W/Hour draw. Now with both systems the battery in real life lasts longer too.
Now the U81 is running at 45% screen brightness and the P7805 was on full. Also the U81 as retail HP and the P7805 is still on RC. Both the screen brightness was set to consistent levels within the systems. Also if you go to sleep and wake up or hybernate and wake up you get the larger powe draw too.
So it appears there is an issue with Windows 7 and the power/battery management........

I've erasearched both systems further and the only like component of the two is wireless 5100 AGN. I'll have to look into that too. Is anyone else getting these results too or am I crazy as they say I am.........
