Hey all,
I can't seem to find an option to set up separate power plans. For example, with the AC adapter unplugged, I would like the power plan to be on balanced, but with it plugged in, I'd would like for it to be high performance. But whenever I change the power setting to high performance, with the power cord plugged in, it also changes the power setting to high performance without the ac adapter plugged in.
I seem to remember having separate power options in windows vista.
Thanks,

You can't do this on any Windows. The power option is set manually by you.
The only thing you can do (which is done by default), is when you are in power saver mode, when your system is on battery transparency on Aero engine is disabled, and comes back when you plug-it in. But that stops there. -

You can however set the whatever plan to set its processor speed/scalling different for AC/DC.

Or you could use either Vista Battery Saver or Aerofoil. I personally use Aerofoil. Switches automatically between High Performance and Power Saver for me.

this program also does automatic power profile switching and some
and it consumes very little amount of ram. -
To find that window, Press Windows button and type search for Power
-
i can do it on my vista laptop, without any other programs...

just configure your power plan to behave different on ac/dc than on battery. they have all options twice, once for each mode.
so each power plan is effectively two plans. -
Yea, I suppose you can do it that way.
Power plan - maybe I'm just blind
