I never paid attention to this but the version of PowerDVD 5 that came with the Dell is a crippled version that only allows Menu, Subtitles, Playing and Changing Languages. I never noticed that was different from the version that came with the DVD burner that I used with the desktop (I never watched movies on a desktop). It came to my attention when reading someone's post from another board.
The feature that I like that isn't on the Dell Version is the screen capture for making Desktop backgrounds. You also have a wide flexibility of configurations and using Eaglevision.

This apparently happens all the time. The powerdvd that came with my acer, and dell, were both crippled advertising. Same witht the nero editions that I got from the lappys. I ended up buying them off ebay.

I was happy to have the "full version" with the DVD burner. I didn't see anything say "trial period" so I am happy with it.
