Sorry if this is in the wrong section... anyways

what OS does powernotebooks.com install (if any) on their laptops? im currently looking at a sager np2096, but there are no options for OS choice. i believe the same goes for xoticpc.com, although sager direct offers the choice (but they are more expensive)

also would anyone recommend any other sager resellers other than these two?

    thanks in advance!

It should be listed in the buy/configure page. They offer no OS or Windows XP/Vista installs.

You probably did this already, but you could ask them. Powernotebooks has a really good sales team that answers questions.

On the PNB 2096 configuration page you have to click on the field for the OS option to get the drop-down menu (or on the little down arrow on the right hand side :D ), which displays the following OS options for the NP2096 from PNB:
    • None Standard
    • .Windows XP Home ~ $83.00
    • .Windows .Vista Premium - (64-Bit installed - 64 and 32-bit CD included) ~ $97.00
    • .Windows .Vista Business - (64-Bit installed - 64 and 32-bit CD included) ~ $127.00
    • .Windows XP Professional ~ $142.00
    • .Windows .Vista Ultimate - (64-Bit installed - 64 and 32-bit CD included) ~ $177.00

remember, if you're a student, your college can most likely get you a copy of Windows for much cheaper; i.e. Vista Ultimate costs me $67 through my college.

So if you are a student, if could be cheaper to request no OS and get it yourself.

Just make sure you carefully read through the terms of the license you get from your college - in some cases, the license may require you to remove the copy of Win from your computer if you cease being affiliated with the college (e.g., you either graduate or drop out).
