So I read that the Vista key that is pre-installed on say my Asus F3JP laptop for example is the same that Asus use throughout that range. A mass license - never need activating again - type key. Only problem is I formatted before using one of those apps you can download to pull that key out of the registry

But I'm thinking if it's the same key then someone can post it up here/PM me right? That would work or have I missed something entirely?

I do have the sticker on the base of my laptop, but heard you have to call microsoft everytime you wanna reinstall?

Is the key printed on the COA..?? If so, use it.
If not, call up ASUS or Microsoft.
(I've never heard manufacturers using Volume Licenses. Only OEMs)

You shouldn't have to call Microsoft at all.. I re-formatted using the sticker off of the bottom of my new laptop 2 or 3 days ago, and it took it straight away. So no worries, just use the activation key off of the sticker and you will be good to go.

I have also never heard of them putting a volume license on like that.. The one on the bottom of mine, most likely yours too is OEM.
