I'm currently using Pidgin for IMing purposes but I've noticed that it randomly and somewhat frequently (like once every 1-2 hours) disconnects me for no apparent reason. On top of that, it seems to build up more and more used memory the longer you have it open, which is sort of disturbing.
So does anyone have recommendations on instant messaging software? I'm basically just talking about the AIM platform (don't use yahoo or MSN) but if the program can handle more than 1 without wasting memory/performance then it's fine.

aim 5.5 with deadaim
-
I like Trillian.
Or Meebo for in-browser IM-ing -
I used to have deadaim, then the owner decided to make people start paying for it and I gave up on it.
-
MIRANDA IM
works with all clients, is really small, and has 1000's of skins and 100's of customizable features -
I really like pidgin...maybe you should reinstall it or something?

i use aim with aim ad hack
http://www.aimadhack.net/ -
I like Digsby to consolidate all of my IM clients into one central location. Works well.
-
Digsby for me as well. I liked it better than Pidgin.
-
I like Trillian, though I don't hold any strong preference. On the last poll, I think most users used Trillian.
-
The most current AIM.
-
wlm when im not gaming, pidgen when im not gaming and wlm is going screwy, and pxp when gaming

Digsby. Everyone has their own preferences I think, so just stick with what you like the most.

aim 6.8 with aim adhack. i think it looks pretty clean.
-
AIM Pro for PC and Slick for windows mobile 6.
-
Thats pretty nice. The ads do get annoying.
-
yea i like it. you just download aim ad hack and it installs the latest version of aim and removes anything else aim installed. then it give you options on what you want to be removed. i also removed the plugins on the bottom. i used to use trillian but non of my friends use anything but aim so no real point in using it.
Preferred instant messaging program?
