Hi...
If I "right-click" an AVI or MP3 file and choose properties there's a tab called the same as the file. It's a preview tab which let's me see the video or hear the sound of the file. I don't have to choose the tab before the file starts but I can just choose properties and the file begins playing.
If I then press cancel the video og music stops and everything is okay. If I press ESC the properties window dissapears but the file keeps playing. Or at least the sound.
If I then choose properties again for the same file it will begin playing the file once again. So now I have two of the same file playing.
Is there anyway to dissable this feature ? I run Vista if that makes a difference ?

not sure what tab you have as it doesnt do it for me.
what is your default music/video player? windows media, vlc or something else.
normaly you dont need to go into properties.
just open you music folder and double click on a song and it will play in your default player. -
I use VLC as my default player... But it's not that I'm using the preview tab to listen to music.
If I want to take a look at the properties for a certain file, the file starts playing. Not in my default media player but in the properties window. Sometimes I press ESC to close the properties window but then the file keeps playing. I can hear the sound if it's a video file.
If I close the window by pressing CANCEL or OK the file stops playing. But whenever I press ESC the file keeps playing and I can't stop it unless I log out and in of Windows... -
thats a new one on me. sorry i cant help out as i wouldnt know what to suggest you try next

When you 1st refer to right-clicking on the file, do you mean in your music player itself or in Windows Explorer? If not in either location, then where?
I have RealPlayer set as my default and don't have this problem. When I right-click (either from within RealPlayer or from Windows Explorer) on any avi or MP3 file + click on Properties, I don't see any Preview link or any tab that has the same title as the file. I also have VLC Player and tried it in VLC as well --- but again, the Properties link didn't have any Preview feature either, or any clickable tab with the same name as the file.
Why don't you try a couple of other music players to see if they do the same thing? And why don't you also try temporarily changing your default music player to see if the same thing will happen? -
