Hi all,
I'm trying to install my new printer (HP LaserJet P3005dn) onto my Vista partition. I have it up and running in my XP partition and had no problems whatsoever. However, I'm not having the same fortune with the Vista installation. When I put in the CD and the menu pops up, I click 'Install Printer.' Almost immediately, I get a message saying that Internet Explorer 5.0 or later is needed. I HAVE INTERNET EXPLORER 7.0 on my computer. Is there anything that I can do. I'm not able to install the printer. I went to the website thinking that I would just download the latest version again, and it recommended that I download IE7 for XP professional, but I'm running Vista Ultimate x64. I'm all confused now. Can anyone help me out?

Is the printer connected? As soon as I connected my printer, Vista found a driver for it on the internet and automatically fetched and installed it.
But... if it doesn't... is your driver 64-bit? Vista x64 can't use 32-bit drivers.
Also... try searching Google and/or HP's site and see if there might be a newer driver. -
Yeah, I'm currently on the HP site in another tab trying to get driver information. This is actually one of the things I feared would bite me sooner or later. Ever since I downloaded x64 Vista, I have not had a problem until now. I'm having a little trouble trying to find the right driver, as the site has quite a few that are supposedly compatible with Vista x64. I just e-mailed their IT technician and the site says that I should be receiving an answer within the hour.

Looks like they got it:

I never touch CDs for drivers... it seems there's almost always a newer version available on the net anyway. -

The links on the page were .exe's, right? Was it just a self-extractor?
Anyway, if there's a readme, read it. If there's a .inf file, you can maybe right-click and choose Install.
If your printer is appearing in Device Manager, you can tell it to install driver and tell it you have the disk, and then point it to that directory. -
None of the driver programs that I downloaded seem to work. I really just don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any other ideas? I tried contacting HP and they told me that they could not help me since my product was no longer under warranty.
