Before someone questions why this is in the Windows section, it's because I believe the problem is OS related. I bought a USB to Parallel printer cable for my ancient printer, because my new PC doesn't have a parallel. Anyway, with XP Pro whenever I plug it in I get the message "USB Device not Recognized". However, when I plugged it in on another machine running XP Home, it installed and worked flawlessly. Is it something in the way XP Pro handles USB? Thanks!

do you have all the latest updates installed on your Pro machine? run windows update and then when you try plugging it in again, make sure you have the windows cdrom in the drive.

Maybe its time for your ancient printer to go to rest, or Ebay it.
Haha, my notebook has a parallel, never use it. -
That's the really troubling thing. I haven't updated the home machine in over a year! (I know, I'm bad) It's never connected to the internet. But the Pro is kept constantly updated. I've scoured the web with no luck
