I got my new Sager NP8130 today in the mail without an operating system already installed, and when I bring up the installation screen and select the disk to install it to (its listed as Disk 0 Partition 1, the only available option) it says Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. How do I convert my disk to an NTFS format? Thank you.

Are you putting a full or an update version of 7 on your computer. When the choice came up did you choose custom instillation.

It's very easy dude you just download Hiren boot CD and you burn the image to a CD after you insert the CD and boot mini xp you go to hiren menu and select mini tool partition wizard once you see your hdd you delete the partition and make some others in NTFS format with the size you want and there you go..by the way keep the cd there are a lot of usefull utilities inside which can save you PC :p

there's no need for all that. if you have the ordinary win7 cd, it formats it for you.

    should look like this:

I know that Windows doesn't exactly have the best formating and partitioning utility, but it should do it automatically? Are you using a full, legal retail version Windows 7? Something doesn't sound right. I suppose you could use GParted to format and partition the HDD, but you shouldn't have to?

select the drive and hit next .... its all automatic
it is possibly they foratted the disk with EXFAT or omethign to test it on the line. to kill that hit disk options, hit the partition then delete it.

In Windows 7 installer, when choosing the partition, there is something like "advanced" button (or something similar). There You can remove current partition and set up a new one. The installer will then format it to NTFS, before installing the system.
