Hi: I am using Windows Vista Business (32bit) on the Vaio Z laptop. For awhile now, I have experienced a problem where when I go to Desktop Background in the control panel, I get the error "Failed to load page, Please return to Control Panel to change background settings." I won't be able to use system restore here as I have had this problem for quite some time.
Thanks in advance

Sorry mate but this thread needs to go to Windows OS and Software sub-forum.

do you mean personalization in Control Panel?
You didn't by any change hack your theme.dll so you could load dreamscenes, did you? -
-
is there anything I can do to get my 'desktop background' (in personalization) utility back? -
Yes, you know that step in the instructions where it said back up your theme.dll?
Restore the back up.
Actually, that was just a guess on my part. I could be way off base. I wonder if the problem is that you did this, then since updated to service pack 2 and there is now an incompatibility.
Try START > then type in the search box
sfc /scannow
hit < enter >
Have your vista cd ready just in case it asks for it -

Yes you should update and no, I suprsingly don't have the backups....All I have are Vista Ultimate machines at the moment and will have to download a new Vista Business DVD image.
