Hi: I am using Windows Vista Business (32bit) on the Vaio Z laptop. For awhile now, I have experienced a problem where when I go to Desktop Background in the control panel, I get the error "Failed to load page, Please return to Control Panel to change background settings." I won't be able to use system restore here as I have had this problem for quite some time.

    Thanks in advance

do you mean personalization in Control Panel?

You didn't by any change hack your theme.dll so you could load dreamscenes, did you?

Actually I think i did do something which allowed me to run dreamscenes.
is there anything I can do to get my 'desktop background' (in personalization) utility back?

Yes, you know that step in the instructions where it said back up your theme.dll?

    Restore the back up.

Actually, that was just a guess on my part. I could be way off base. I wonder if the problem is that you did this, then since updated to service pack 2 and there is now an incompatibility.

Try START > then type in the search box
    sfc /scannow
    hit < enter >

Have your vista cd ready just in case it asks for it

I for some reason cannot find the backup of the themecpl.dll, do you have an unmodified version that you could send me, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I have not yet updated to Vista SP2, should I upgrade?
