My comp worked fine until yesterday... don't know what I changed but now when I turn on itunes, the songs don't start. When I run WMP 11, I get the message that
"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Close or Help?

Neither does anything for me. It now occurs on any song or file from anywhere on my comp or the web.

Normal sounds from the OS or games or webpages with music etc work - just not my own media.

    Any help??

I had a similar problem and it was solved when I right clicked the speaker icon in the bottom right, and then clicking on playback devices. It said there was some kind of driver conflict and disabled it. After that My media works.

I had the same problem a while back. Drove me crazy until I opened the control panel and noticed the big "!" indicating there was a sound problem.

It was basically like, 2 clicks and then everything worked again. I can't remember the exact directions.
