Problem upgrading to Win 10 - freezes

Hey guys...
Right,so, last night I decided to make the jump to Windows 10.
My own laptop in signature upgraded without a hitch... however, my flatmate's laptop did not.
His laptop is a Samsung RV511. I also upgraded it from baseline specs to a core i5, 8GB RAM and SSD (which acts as a primary drive - the optical drive was replaced with a caddy that holds his old hdd - I also have a caddy in my laptop).

Anyway, the system goes through the motions of downloading the upgrades and when its time to restart, it again goes through the info saying the % amount completed for preparing the upgrade (with a familiar Win 7 background).
Then the laptop restarts, says 'Loading files', and once that's complete, a black screen with a green window in the upper middle section of the screen appears without budging, as you can see in this link:

My laptop never showed this... it showed a circle with amount of %, indicating where the installation/upgrade was.
His laptop just hangs at that picture and doesn't budge.
I even left his laptop at it for hours to do it after a second try (I force shut down the laptop and it reset itself into Windows 7 as if nothing happened - though it said the upgrade failed).

I also tried a 'clean boot' option... but it also didn't work (not that there was much to remove considering it was already clean).

I want to upgrade because I can keep his key from Win 7, and then I could do a clean install if needed, but apparently I'm stuck.

This is the 5th time I tried to upgrade Win 10 on his laptop and it failed.
There are no hardware conflicts that I could see, no issues that presented themselves... it just hangs at that picture.

 

It seems the wifi card is causing this, the upgrade is successful if you disconnect the card prior to the upgrade.

There are some workaround in the links I listed, obviously not fullproof, it seems the best option is to pull the card.
I would also check with Samsung if there is a new BIOS released, a lot of devices had to go through a BIOS update to be able to upgrade to W10.

Problem seem Samsung-related so if you want I can move this to the Samsung forum, the guys there are probably familiar with these issues.

Well, I certainly won't be bothered by not upgrading his laptop to Windows 10 just because of the Wifi card that works fine in Windows 7... and I don't feel like removing the Wifi card as I'd have to disassemble the entire laptop - too much time honestly.
