    Hey everyone

    Recently ive had a problem.

under "Playback Devices" (Right click volume icon > Playback Devices) i used to have separate listings for my Speakers and for my Headphone Jack.

Well all of a sudden, a few days ago, suddenly there is no more Headphone Listing and when i plug in my headphones it just stays set to speakers.

Although the headphones work as usual and regular, the two listings seems to have combined. and it isnt working right because my audio settings that were available under headphone jack arent available under speakers lol.

So can anyone tell me how to fix or undo this?

    Thanks in advance :)

Did you install any audio driver? Because, in my Vaio, the IDT audio driver combines both Speakers and Headphones into a single entry named "Speakers/ Headphones". But the default MS audio driver has separate entries and settings for the speakers and Headphones. Make sure "Show disconnected devices" is checked in the playback devices panel.

You can try reinstalling the audio driver.

Well not exactly possible to re-install the drivers. every time i restart windows installs its own god damn drivers before i can install the old ones.

    Any way to stop this?

uninstall window one through device manage and check delete driver from computer

    install your own

go look in window update if a replacement driver apeared if yess say hide this update and it should be fixed

What's wrong with the audio driver that Windows installs other than the single "Speakers/ Headphones" entry issue?

Thats what im doing, but the way the driver installation works is it uninstalls them, then restarts the computer, and THEN installs them.

problem is, windows installs its own drivers after its restarted before i can install these.

and i looked in windows update, and in fact it did update the audio driver. but it already did and theres no way i know of to undo it
checked system restore and apparently it was turned off! yay. lol

Thats the problem, the driver windows installs has them combined.

Open "change device installation settings" from the start menu > Change the setting to "Let me choose what to do".
