Okay, so when I click on the Documents shortcut on me start menu, nothing happens, nothing at all. When I click on properties to see if it is pointing to the right location and such this is what i see...
![]()
I can't click on location or else i would just do it that way the only thing I can type into is the name box, which goes away after I click on properties again. I have no idea why this happened. I didnt delete documents its still there. Also I can't create a shorcut and put it into the start menu either. Just in case you dont know what documents shortcut i am talking about its this one...

Thanks for any help in advance.

you have a corrupted registry or corrupted system
either you try to fix it with a registry fix program or you re-install your OS -
Yep, concurring with a repair!

Is you My Document folder still there?
That is, if you go through the whole C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents, can you find it?
If you can, couldn't you I suppose just copy the path into the shortcut, click apply and have everything be fine? -
You Know it's funny, but I just ran into the same problem an hour ago. My mouse slipped and I accidentally copied the Documents Folder into Downloads, then I deleted it not knowing that it hadn't actually physically moved the files. I checked the recycle bin and the folder wasn't there. Luckily I managed to recover most of my files but now I have no documents folder and I want it back.

Update. Okay so I have no idea but it's back. Try typing "shellersonal" without the quotation marks into the start search box and see what happens. I realize that a smiley face is coming up. Its supposed to be ": personal" but it comes out as the smiley because you have to type it with no spaces.

If you still have the restore partition on your hard drive, try a system restore to a few days ago. That should not delete any documents, but might revert the registry to a time when it was working.

Okay well today a Documents shortcut appeared on my desktop. Don't know how or why but I don't care its back and everything works. I did have to move everything from my old Documents to my new one but now everything is fixed. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. But I think I'm good now.
