Am trying (frustratingly) to fit more than the standard 80 mins onto a cd-r...I don't want to burn files to a data disk because my DVD/Cd player will not play them...what am I missing? It seems the only way to fit more than 80 mins onto a cd-r is to make it a data disk!! My cd-player recognizes MP3 stuff but will not play data disk...the manual for my dvd/cd player states that all files should have a ".mp3 file extension"..am I missing something? Also have Roxio and have same problem! Any advice would be welcome!

80 minutes. That's the law. (They do make 99 minute blanks but many burners can't burn them and most players won't play them).....

I don't think there's any such thing as .mp3 files on an audio-format CD. If you burn one, it'll just convert the .mp3 to uncompressed CD-Audio format, and you'll have the 80-minute limit.

Maybe your CD player just requires that the disc itself (the hardware) be the kind sold as audio discs, rather than the kind sold as data discs?

Just enable "over burning" option. Most cd drive will be able to read it.
