I was trying to play a dvd with WMP 11 and I keep getting this error message:

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

Does anyone know where I can get updated drivers for my nvidia 7400?

    Thanks!

You're not alone. WiMP 11 is having all sorts of problems like that right now, I am using it and it won't play like 90% of my DVD collection. I'm running an ATi x850xt, with the newest drivers, and I still get that error message. Interestingly though, Media Center plays them without a hitch!

I'd be interested in hearing the fix, as MS has yet to say anything useful on the subject.

Ok, good, glad I'm not alone. This all started after I updated WMP 11, it was a pretty big update from what I remember. I just hope MS fixes the problem soon, this is the only way I can watch movies. I'm too poor for a tv. :(

Yea I updated WMP 11 2 nights ago, it was about 5 MB I think, ever since I havn't been able to Rip CDs in MP3 format. I havn't tried playing DVDs with it since I use Media Center. I hope Microsoft gets these fixed.

I got a similar copy protection error, and I too was shocked/amused when Media Center pulled it off just fine. But at least that told me it was wmp's fault...

Welcome to DRM hell, and the reason I won't install WMP11. Roll back to WMP10, or use a different player. There's a reason I'm not going to use Vista, because the problem will only get worse.

I tried rolling back and playing a dvd in WMP 10 and it still didn't work due to the same problem as before. :(

Did you uninstall WMP 11? How about trying a third party dvd player?

Ok, my friend was on the phone with Dell and they said to move back the date on his computer to fix the dvd playback problem. It worked! You have to set the date back on your computer to something before December 1st. He said that they are working on a fix for the date problem. Kind of a strange problem if you ask me.

W.T.F.? So I have to cheat the DRM into thinking it's november to play a DVD? Holy hell, what do you call that bug?
