For some odd reason there are folders in my hdd that have locks on them and when i try to access them it says "access is denied". Does anyone know how to allow access to these folders? I am using W7 Home Premium.

Try the Take Ownership trick. Find the Take Ownership registry key on the net to add it to the registry and you will be able to access those folders.

It also can be anti-virus related. If you should be able to access the folders even after changing permissions, turn your AV software off for a second and test it out. I use McAfee Virus Scan enterprise, and it locks down the windows folders, even if I take ownership.
