Hello
I have this problem:I have sager 2090 and it is with intel PM965 chipset.I am running windows vista x86 and I was enabled ahci in the bios before install the windows. But in the device manager the ahci driver is Intel(R) ICH8M SATA AHCI Controller - 2829.When I tried to update it with intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI after the restart I get bsod. And I had to roll back the driver to work my laptop.I need this driver because when I install intel turbo memory it installs intel matrix storage driver which install 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI and I can't use my intel turbo memory. So please help me with this problem how to install this driver without the bsod
Thanks and sorry for my English ;]

Here is the guide for enabling ahci in xp if you want to.
Instructions:
1) Make sure AHCI is not enabled in your BIOS, otherwise this guide is pointless for you.
2) Back up your Windows folder and prepare a boot disk in case this guide fails!
3) Download 79im05ww.exe from http://www.opendrivers.com/categorycompany/1404/170/notebook-ibm-free-driver-download.html
it is at the bottom of the page
4) Extract the file to "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA" (or whatever spot you want, just remeber where you put it).
5) Open "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA\PREPARE\IMSM_PRE.inf" in Notepad.
6) Replace any instance of DEV_27C5 with the following: DEV_2829
7) Save the file and close Notepad.
8) Click Start, select Run.
9) In the Open field type "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA\PREPARE\INSTALL.CMD" and click OK.
10) Restart your computer, and enable AHCI on in your BIOS Setup.
11) Start Windows XP. The Found New Hardware wizard will start automatically.
12) If running Windows XP:
1. Click No, not this time then click Next.
2. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), then click Next.
3. Select Search for the best driver in these locations.
4. Select Include this location in the search: and specify the path, C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA, and click Next.
After all that, I installed the latest version of the intel matrix storage manager, downloaded from intel (the driver
is the same for vista or xp...

Thanks but this is for windows xp.I want to install intel matrix storage driver for windows vista because Intel turbo memory works only in vista. And I am runnig ahci in vista but not with the driver from intel matrix storage manager(Intel(R) ICH8M SATA AHCI Controller - 2829).When I install intel matrix storage manager it installs this driver Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller. And after the restart I got the BSoD.Thanks for the replay anyway you are the first person which replays my problem. And for windows xp this will be useful thanks.!!

hmmm... yes, i realize you are in vista and the explanation was for XP.
it might work anyway- because the hardware is the same, and as i mentioned in my previous post, the latest driver is the same for XP or for vista. you could give it a shot. also, when i installed the intel matrix storage manager with these instructions, it installed the
Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI CONTROLLER
exactly the one you want, with no problems. hope you figure it out. good luck. -
Yes i tried but the same thing. When I disable the ahci in bios this driver Intel(R) ICH8M 3 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 2828 is in the device managera. So I am wondering if I must change in the IMSM_PRE.inf dev_2828 or like you said dev_2829.And when I change this in the imsm_pre and then run install.cmd black window is shown for a 1,2 sek.and did not ask me to restart. So this solution probably don't work for vista.

uh, it will not ask you to restart. the instructions (#10) TELL YOU to restart your computer. read them more carefully and maybe you will succeed!

Wait, there's some registry setting you need to change...
