this blog article may or may not fix your problem....
Gadgets are Not Displayed Correctly in Windows 7 and Windows Vista - The Winhelponline Blog -
no solution?

I can see your using Kaspersky.. horrible anti-virus program that.. I just ditched my 1 year subscription that had 6 months left on it for a 1 year of Avast! Internet Security... Those 6 months with KAV were 6 of the worst of my life using a computer..
Anyway ontopic:
Start - Control Panel - Uninstall a program - Left sidebar 'Turn windows features on or off' - Scroll down to 'Windows Gadget Platform'
Uncheck the box, then click apply, wait and restart.
Then go back and repeat the steps except this time check the box. (You're reinstalling gadgets now).
See if that works.
If not a bit of a long-shot but you could try a System Restore to see if that helps. Just restore back to a time when it was working. Then find out what you did to make it stop working and not do it again. -
You could try replacing the files for the specific gadget that's not working by taking them from another install of Windows. Or if you can tell me exactly what gadget isn't working, I could find it on my system and upload it for you. It could just be that the files are corrupted.
Try a "sfc /scannow" in an administrator privileged command prompt.
