    Ive hade it!

I have tried to install windows XP on my Dell Inspiron 1525 for three days now, but i cant find a way.

When i tries to install XP i come to the "Checking computers configuration" screen, but after that the screen goes black, after a while the CD spins down. Nothing happens even after 30 min +, alto the fan goes like its in semi load.

I have tried to install with windows XP SP1, XP with SP2 and slipsteam in SATA, graphic, chipset drivers but nothing chances it. Ive even tried once with SP3 RC2. Chancing AHCI modes doesnt cut it ether.

Im beginning to suspect something else, because it dont even get an error message or any response from the computer at all! It works perfectly with both Ubuntu and Fedora so the computer seems to be work :/

If you happen to have a spare older laptop lying around i'd strongly recommend swapping HDs and installing Windows onto the drive while its in the other comp then switching to the 1525... I know it alot of extra work, but that should solve it.

Maybe try not integrating your graphics card drivers. See if that makes any difference.

Hawkshark unfortunately not, but it sounds like an cool hardcore solution, ille se if i cant my hands on one.

    mario666 hmm, ille try that.

ScifiMike12 ive tried all possible ways with and without drivers i can think of :( im going to do a another try with a new Intel HCPI driver i found, but doubt it will work because i dont event get that far in the installation.

I removed the internal harddrive which made the install work! I installed it on my USB harddrive, but when i tries to start XP i get blue screen and some evil error messages :/ tried with both AHCI off and with slipstemed AHCI drivers but nothing changes it.
Can it be XP unmounting the USB drive under boot? Thats all i can think of, but USB boot is enabled in bios.

And starting XP install still wont work when my internal harddrive is mounted :S

Gonna try to update the bios, but i cant see how that chances anything.

Yeah, I'd update your BIOS first. Sometimes Dell issues/releases newer versions for a reason (OS fixes, conflicts, hardware updatability).

Also, how did you get your AHCI driver? By acquiring the Intel Matrix driver on Intel's website and then extracting the needed files?

Updated to the latest dell bios, but it chanced nothing :/

Im all out of ideas :( anyone?

    Edit:
Tried to start the install with the harddrive unmounted and mount it when the install starts, but then it doesnt sees the harddrive later when i choose to install XP, tried with both AHCI settings, SP2, SP3 and slipsteamed XP but nothing chanced it.

I mean WHAT THE **** IS WRONG!?! this aint normal

    Edit 2:
Cant figure out whats wrong with the portable USB drive, according to the bios the computer supports USB booting.

The little button with a house on it, left to the powerbutton is that the Media Directbutton? I read somewhere on this forum that if you press that one after installing it will ****up the MBR, can it be that? And how can you fix it then?
Would be strange tho since Fedora works like a charm.
