I was having a few disk errors on my partitoned HD on both partitions. So i went into cmd to repair both with the /r command, repair was successful but now when my laptop starts up, i get a blank or black log on screen. All i see is the windows ultimate logo on the bottom, the red shutdown box on the bottom right and the blue ease of access box on the bottom left with a black background. The odd thing is I am the only user for my laptop so i dont use a pw, and i always skip the log on screen.

I have tried just about everything alt+ctrl+del(no response), safe mode(same screen), system restore(same screen), last known good configuration(same screen) the list goes on and on.

Does anyone have any idea how i can fix this before i toss it out the window??

I had a very similar issue when I tried to repartition some stuff using Acronis. It would boot into a black screen with only the cursor movable. What you can try to do is boot into the windows installation CD, click the repair options, and then start a prompt. From there you can run a chkdsk and see if anything is damaged.

I've done that already and there were no errors found. I also tried the start-up repair option and got the same results.

did the chkdsk reveal any errors on the harddisk (any bytes in bad sectors)

It sounds like you may be experiencing the dreaded black screen of death, which has a couple of causes, including damaged metadata files (very bad).

The most common cause I have found, though, is a damaged event log

Use a ubuntu disk and navigate to
    C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs

move the application and system logs (the two most likely to get corrupted) and restart windows
