I got my E1505 a couple days ago and have been enjoying it greatly... except for one small detail. Sometimes (not everytime) when I go to shut down windows it just stops at the blue "Windows is shutting down..." screen. It will stay like that until I am forced to remove the battery because there is no other way to turn off the computer. This has been very annoying and I am wondering why it is doing this. Could it be because I turned off alot of processes in msconfig? Any help is appreciated!

Perhaps. Even so, if you hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, the laptop should shut off. You shouldn't have to pull the battery.

It might be time to turn those processes back on until your laptop shuts down correctly.

It could be several things. It might be your antivirus/firewall (which is what was causing mine), driver issue, program not shutting down, etc....

Here is a very good website that has several tips/suggestions/troubleshooting ideas to help you out:

I would start out with shutting down all of your programs and seeing if that helps.

This is probably more of an XP problem, and not a dell, so I'm going to move it to software.
