Hi
I reinstalled my laptop, M2400, from XP64 to Vista 64. Everything was working fine with XP64, but since I installed Vista I would have to turn off my modem and turn it back on to connect to the internet. Is there a fix to this?
Also my dvd drive is reading as a CD-ROM drive and won't play DVD's or burn a DVD. I searched for drivers but it says they're up to date and have checked Dell's website and their driver won't run saying the target drive is not connected.
So any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are you using vista 64 bit drivers for vista 64 or are you still using the xp 64 drivers?

I'm using vista 64 bit drivers. All off of the Dell support page.

Could be out of date drivers. I had to download new Wifi drivers from Intel to get my brand new laptop to talk to my wireless router. The Vista 64 drivers from Asus were a few versions old.
Try going directly to the component makers website and getting the newest drivers and see if that fixes the problem.
