So, I'm having an issue where everytime I turn on my computer (e4300 laptop win 7), or bring it back from sleep mode, I get a pop-up telling me that my pagefile is not set correctly. So I go in, set it to 400/600 min/max, apply, and it tells me I need to restart for changes to take effect, so I do.

When I restart, the popup happens again, and again the pagefile is zero.

I did a quick search on google and came up with this

    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/20174-paging-file-system-will-not-set.html

which is exactly the same problem I've been having. Same screen pop-up and everything.

I also noticed that this started happening right after I installed my HP printer, same as the guy who posted last in the thread.

Is this a known issue/is there a fix?

    Hmm, interesting.

Well, let's start with the basics.

Since it started after you installed your printer, try un-installing it to see if it fixes it.

If that doesn't work, try a system restore a few days before it first happened.

Other than that, only thing I can think of is to re-install Windows, but that ofcourse is a last ditch effort.

However, since this is HP Printer software we are talking about, proceed with extreme caution! HP foists some of the absolutely worst software I have ever seen in my entire career on their unsuspecting customers. If this is a multi-function printer, in particular, then reinstalling their printer software may lead you straight into software hell, where you may end up being unable to get your printer to work again, up to the point of requiring an OS reinstall. My advice, before tinkering with a system that has been damaged by HP software, make a system image first! Good luck!

I would avoid HP software at all cost!
Basic driver should all you need for your printer. If it has a scanner built-in, then use Windows built-in scanner program.

Why the heck are you setting your page file? This age old tweak needs to be put to death....while there are some reasons one might wish to adjust the pagefile, those reasons are few and far between. Let windows handle it.

The default setting for the pagefile is the optimal setting and messing with it can cause issues.
