Hey all,
I am having some issues with IDM when downloading RS files...
For all links, I usually do a right click 'Download with IDM' method to download my files. Usually, this method will work. Those who use IDM will know that the file size will appear and the download can start.
However, I have been having this issue that whenever I do the right click to download, the file size doesn't appear! It seems that IDM is still loading the file and stuff. Strangly though, this only happens on certain files. I can't seem to find the distinction between the files that work and that don't work...
I have tried using other managers to download those 'spoilt' files such as FlashGet, Free Download Manager and they all don't work. The ONLY one which works every time is JDownloder. However I'd prefer using IDM as I get the best speed there.
Can anyone advise me whats the possible problem here?

Hello. You might not like my answer but since I have experience with all the dump sites (RS, mega, bitshare, etc.), I felt it could be helpful.
I in fact use free download manager, and it JUST about maxes out DL bandwidth. You won't find much info about it in a search query, since those are dominated by, as you said, IDM and Jdownloader. But anyways, while I do have the options built into the shell for 'download with FDM' and so, I always right click the link, and select 'copy shortcut'. Sometimes you'll see the URL popup ending whatever file extension you're downloading, and sometimes you'll see a randomized string of characters that those free download services generate (they expire after 30 minutes to 8 hours, depending on site/service).
So I copy/paste that into a 'new' download. Sometimes the issue comes up it just simply won't work on some sites (fileserve has been iffy in the past, but works great recently).
Another thing that seems to 'spoil' the download is prematurely checking 'file size' before initiating the actual download. You have to copy/paste it into the download field, and just hit start and hope it works. It 99% does in those cases. I believe this is something those sites have used to combat exploiting their bandwidth in the past via download managers. Specifically the checking file's size before download. Most sites do not, but some sites don't like that trigger. And anyways, file size should be printed out in text on the DL page or the track-back page you used to get there anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem.
