Is there any point reinstalling windows after a processor swap?
The processor swap would be from the same series, but a different number of cores / clock speed.
I'm presuming that there isn't any point. Just double checking to see if windows does anything weird.

Of course not, you'll need to reboot as windows will detect new hardware and ask you to, but that's it. I was aked to reboot when i put in my 920xm in place of a 720qm. I'm guessing it has to do with some driver rather than the CPU itself.

different core, as in dual to quad may ask you to validate windows. When I went from a C2D to CQD this happened here. No problem though othre than that and maybe a reboot or two.........

Nope. Windows 7 is surprisingly tolerant of almost any hardware change. I've swapped an entire motherboard, even gone from Intel to AMD, and all I had to was install the proper drivers and re-activate Windows. This involved a call to MS for me, but your experience may vary.
