Okay So im trying something new with my desktop where I have my icons all over the place.
The problem I have is that when I either unplug my external screen, or even close the lid to my laptop, the icons mess up. I cannot seem to find a good program to stop this.
I would like a program that can save at least 2 icon positions, (one for my laptop res, and one for my external res), where I can easily load one set or another.
thanks for any help
Here's What My desktop looks like, I'm making and changing a bunch of stuff in photoshop, using omnimo as the original (and using sean billy's idea).

Irrelevant to your question but, how did you group your programs together and name that group e.g. Microsoft Office and Photoshop CS4?

I organized My icons using a program that I found called fences, It allows me to place Icons all over my desktop, and they wont move.
I made all my backgrounds in photoshop, making different boxes for cs4 master collection and such. I then changed the setting on "fences" to transparent, giving it a custom box look. I actually really like how its turning out. I did this because I didn't like the way programs was setup in omnimo.
I made it so I only have to change the background, and it can cycle through as a slide show... here are a few more. The last photo shows what it looks like in photoshop
I hope you all like it, I got everything workingI also like it because it doen't take up any resources (except fences and rainmeter, but they use nothing at all) since i have it on my background.

that seems like a lot of work. It would be too much work to do that for all the some 200 wallpapers I have =(.
But anyways, great job and it looks awesome! -

Doesn't Rainmeter have an option to stop it from correcting itself when resolutions change? I don't know how to get that to work for Fences, but back when I had my G2S with the 8600M GT, I always had to reduce resolution for games, and had to figure out how to keep everything in its place.

I don't know about that, but if anyone has any ideas' let me know.
When I change resolutions and such, fences automatically corrects itself. As long as I stay on the same monitor, its fine. The problems now come up when I disconnect my external display and use my smaller laptop display.
I can create a theme in rainmeter for my laptop screen, so wherever I switch to my laptop display, I can load that theme, then when i want to hook up my external again, I can load back this theme.
So the only problem With What I'm doing is with rainmaster when switching between displays, but I'm sure making 2 of separate themes, one for each resolution in rainmeter is the easiest.
So my new question: does anyone know how to set rainmaster to load a specific theme when a resolution changes? And does anyone know how to set and load different presets in fences?
thanks
